KUALA LUMPUR — Natasha Roslan, Malaysia’s golden girl in bowling, is not resting on her laurels despite making history as the first Malaysian woman to win the World Cup.
Her recent triumph in the women’s singles event has not only cemented her name in the record books but also left her hungry for more success.
“Honestly, everything just seems surreal to me,” Natasha admitted when reflecting on her groundbreaking achievement in Top Bowl, Hong Kong last night.
“To make history by being the first female Malaysian to win the World Cup is pretty overwhelming. I believe there is more in me—I want to win more for my country.”
Her victory was a masterclass in perseverance and precision. She dominated Germany’s Birgit Noreiks in the final with scores of 217-166 and 226-169 after overcoming tough semi-final opposition from Singapore’s Daphne Tan.
But despite the accolades, the National Sportswoman of the Year remains laser-focused on the future.
“My process is knowing that there is always something I can improve on. This mindset keeps me chasing, so I’m never complacent,” she explained.
“Everything just feels like a dream, and I’m happy that all my hard work is paying off.”
For 28-year-old Natasha, the work never stops. She’s already shifting her focus to the women’s team event, which begins today immediately after her women’s singles win.
“Right now, I’m just digesting this victory as I prepare for the team event,” she shared, highlighting her unrelenting dedication.
Her ability to find motivation even after reaching historic milestones amplifies her drive to achieve more, especially in what is expected to be a very important year with the World Championships and Bangkok SEA Games later this year. — January 11, 2025
