KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia’s independent men’s singles shuttler, Lee Zii Jia, has lost another key figure in his team, bidding farewell to his strength and conditioning coach, Lim Joe Heang.
The brief announcement was made through Zii Jia’s official social media account, Team LZJ.
“A bond that will forever remain, as we bid farewell to two important members of the team. All the best and may our path cross again in the future. Team LZJ 2024 signing off.”
This farewell follows the announcement on December 6 of the departure of Zii Jia’s head coach, Wong Tat Meng.
Joe Heang, a pivotal member of Team LZJ since its formation in 2022, has been a consistent presence in Zii Jia’s journey.
He had previously worked with the Kedah-born shuttler during the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games, serving as the Badminton Association of Malaysia’s (BAM) performance analyst.
His role was crucial in ensuring Zii Jia’s physical readiness during high-pressure competitions.
The latest departure comes shortly after Tat Meng’s exit was confirmed. Wong, 57, opted not to renew his contract following the Paris Olympics, where Zii Jia secured a bronze medal.
The recently concluded World Tour Finals marked Tat Meng’s final assignment with Zii Jia.
As of now, no names have been linked to fill the vacant positions, leaving questions about the next phase for Team LZJ. — December 23, 2024
