SEPANG — National motocross rider Muhamad Habibullah Mohd Saleh, known as Gabit, has been diagnosed with a recurrence of nasal cancer after being declared cancer-free in 2023.
The 33-year-old racer, who was initially diagnosed with stage four cancer in 2021, underwent multiple chemotherapy sessions and was later cleared.
However, four days ago, a CT scan at the National Cancer Institute (IKN) confirmed the cancer’s return.
“In 2021, I had cancer and then was free from my stage four nasal cancer, but four days ago after doing a CT Scan at IKN, the cancer is back. I need to do chemotherapy again, but the doctor doesn’t know what stage I am at.
“I can’t lie, it’s sad, devastating. I’m not okay; I feel numbness in my lips and throbbing gums when I talk a lot, and my right eye can’t see; I squint to the left. When I talk a lot, my tongue feels tense,” he said.
Gabit, a two-time SuperMoto Asia FIM champion, shared these updates at the MKA Group helmet launch event at Sepang International Circuit today.
The MKA Group also introduced its KYT TTR Jet Pendekar helmet series, featuring Gabit’s image as a tribute to his fighting spirit.
