KUALA LUMPUR — Former Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) president Datuk Dr P. S. Nathan passed away on Sunday evening at the age of 90.

It is understood that Nathan was surrounded by his family during his final moments at the hospital.

A pivotal figure in the rise of Malaysian bowling, Nathan leaves behind his wife, Datin Malathy Ramachandram, two children, Ruban and Malini, their spouses, and six grandchildren.

Nathan founded the MTBC in 1974 and served as its president for 50 years before stepping down in May this year. His deputy, Datuk Mohamad Najeeb Abdullah, has since taken over as acting president.

“Datuk’s influence, wisdom, and unwavering guidance shaped so many of us. I am deeply grateful for all that he has taught me,” said MTBC secretary-general Maradona Chok, who is currently in Bangkok with the national team for the 27th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships.

“His legacy will live on through those he inspired and the achievements we continue to pursue because of his leadership. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. May he rest in peace.”

Throughout his time as both player and president of MTBC, Nathan achieved significant success at the Asian Games level and inspired many top bowlers, including world champions.
