KUALA LUMPUR – Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City) is facing a series of penalties from the First Instance Body (FIB) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for providing inaccurate or false information to obtain their licence.
As part of the sanctions related to the National Licence, KL City has received three penalties: a six-point deduction, a RM50,000 fine, and a transfer ban until the end of the 2024 – 2025 season.
This means they are barred from buying or selling players during the upcoming transfer window in August and will lose their current third-place position in the Super League, where they have accumulated 11 points.
From the AFC, the club is prohibited from applying for the AFC licence for two MFL Club Licensing cycles (2024 – 2025 and 2025 – 2026), fined RM50,000, and their AFC Licence for the 2024 – 2025 season, previously approved by FIB, has been revoked.
Additionally, the MFL board of directors may consider further actions against KL City based on these violations.
“FIB hopes that all Super League clubs can learn from this issue and not take the declaration information submitted to FIB lightly, as the independent body can conduct reviews and revoke the National Licence or AFC Licence if found guilty, according to the MFL Club Licensing Regulations,” said FIB in a statement issued today.
Earlier, the FIB launched a thorough investigation after revelations by KL City FC director, Syed Yazid.
The review found that the documents submitted by KL City FC concerning the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia, Employees Provident Fund (EPF), and Social Security Organisation (Socso) contributions contained inaccurate or false information, as verified by government agencies.
