KUALA LUMPUR – The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) announced that Allianz Malaysia Bhd, the council’s official insurance partner, would provide insurance coverage for the entire Malaysian contingent participating in the Paris Olympics.

“Allianz Malaysia began supporting OCM last year, and part of their sponsorship includes protection for the Malaysian contingent at all major multi-sport games under OCM’s jurisdiction,” said OCM president Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria.

For the coming Olympics, the Malaysian contingent, comprising 26 athletes, will be covered by Allianz throughout their stay in Paris.

“The support from Allianz, a global brand and leading insurance company, will provide confidence and encouragement to our athletes when they represent Malaysia at the Olympic Games,” Norza added.

Allianz Malaysia chief executive Sean Wang emphasised the company’s commitment to Malaysian sports.

“We are happy to protect our Malaysian contingent participating in the Paris Olympics. This is our contribution to Malaysian sports.

“While the athletes focus on training and competitions, we ensure they are protected during their stay in France.”

Allianz Malaysia previously provided travel protection for the Malaysian contingent at the Tokyo Olympics.

This partnership was formalised to include additional insurance coverage for the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou and the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games.

The partnership with Allianz also includes the MoveForward programme, aimed at supporting current and former national athletes by enhancing their soft skills and financial literacy, aiding their transition from sports careers. – July 21, 2024
