KUALA LUMPUR – The Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) president has expressed his disappointment over unpaid salaries brought up by Kuala Lumpur City FC player Paulo Josue.
In a post on Instagram, the former national player supported Josue’s action in highlighting the problem and hopes that those responsible would take proactive measures to curb such incidents that seem to be rampant in Malaysian football.
“Seven months salary unpaid, Paulo Josue finally brings it up! When we voice it out, we’re said to want to bring down or ruin the image of football, but when such a case happens, who is to blame?
“We will watch and see what the governing body will do and please monitor and do something more proactive to tackle this issue. A lot of clubs fail when it comes to salaries,” the post read.
“My passion for this sport will never fade. I know the suffering of each player, take the responsibility or just get out of this sport. In this life you have an option,” he added.
Safee added that while he no longer played in the Malaysia League, he would continue to champion the welfare of footballers.
Earlier, it was understood that Josue claimed to be owed unpaid salary of seven months by KL City and that he was currently surviving on his savings. – July 9, 2024
