KUALA LUMPUR – Thailand are looking for revenge against Malaysia after losing the doubles and regu finals at the Sepak Takraw World Cup.

Thailand’s team manager Supot Tumpracha said several losses against Malaysia upset the players but they have quickly recovered for the team event.

“They were upset after losing to Malaysia but they are now focusing on the team event.

“We are confident for the next round as the players are slowly getting their form back.

“Congrats to Malaysia for the two wins. We have to accept that Malaysia is better than Thailand right now.

“Malaysia’s teamwork and communication were good, and their sunback spikers were very dangerous. They were very difficult to defend against,” he said.

Over 1,500 fans flooded the Titiwangsa Stadium and created an electric atmosphere, which Tumpracha admitted intimidated the Thai players.

“The crowd made the Thai players nervous and pressured.

“We have never encountered that in Thailand. The crowd was too loud for even the experienced players to handle.

“But we are doing our best to adapt and be more confident when facing the same crowd again if we meet in the final of the team competition,” added Tumpracha.

In the team event today, Thailand secured their quarter-final spot after defeating China 3-0.

With that, Tumpracha is aiming for revenge against Malaysia in the team final.

“We have so many choices of good players in the team event.

“So I promise that Thailand will beat Malaysia in the team final,” he said.
