KUALA LUMPUR — Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) midfielder, Safiq Rahim, fell victim to the latest attack by two unidentified individuals near the club’s training centre in Seri Gelam on Tuesday night.

The recent incident is particularly alarming, especially in the wake of two prior cases involving Selangor FC player Faisal Halim, who was subjected to an acid attack, and Terengganu FC player Akhyar Rashid, who was robbed outside his home in Kuala Terengganu.

Safiq shared the incident on his Instagram page, along with a copy of the police report he filed after the incident.

It is understood that while on Sri Gelam Road heading towards Pantai Lido, Safiq, driving a Honda City, was approached by a motorcycle with two men.

“I never expected to be attacked near the JDT training centre. It’s a reminder to always be cautious,” he said.

According to the police report, the incident occurred at 10 pm as he was driving his vehicle after picking up items from the JDT training centre.

“Suddenly, a motorcycle with two men on it approached, and one of them knocked on the rear car window with a hammer.

“The knock startled me, and I stopped the car. Both men stopped in front, brandishing the hammer at me.

“Out of fear, I reversed the car, and the two men fled,” he said in the police report.

Safiq then filed a report on the incident at the Larkin Police Station at around 11 pm last night. — May 8, 2024
