KUALA LUMPUR — As the Jumping World Challenge approaches, Malaysia’s emerging equestrian star, Arysha Haya Kanda, is determined to excel in the show-jumping discipline.
Her goal is to secure a top-two finish in the regional competition to be held at the Selangor Turf Club on October 27 and 29, which is a necessary step to qualify for the World Finals scheduled for next year.
Arysha’s participation in this event is particularly noteworthy as she will be the youngest rider competing in the challenging 130cm class.
She will face formidable competition from riders representing Indonesia, Singapore, and India.
At just 16 years old, Arysha has already left her mark on the equestrian world.
In 2022, she made history by contributing to the Malaysian youth team’s first-ever medal win at the Princess’ Cup in Bangkok.
Her achievements include an impressive fourth-place finish in the individual category at the 2023 Asian Equestrian Federation Competition in Korea.
Scoop Sports team recently met this young prodigy, where Arysha shared her passion for the sport and revealed that her journey began at the tender age of five.
We also spoke with her coaches, Andika Jamaludin and Syamri Santaroena, who expressed their high hopes for Arysha and emphasised the potential she possesses in the world of equestrian sports. — October 26, 2023
