PUTRAJAYA — Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) anticipates up to 2,000 attendees at its Pesta Rakan Muda Mudi (Rakan Muda Youth Festival), to be held at the ministry building here, on Saturday.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Rahman said the festival aims to provide a vibrant platform for the youths to make the most of their leisure time.

He added the event is themed ‘Democracy in Action’ in conjunction with the recent National and the upcoming Malaysia Day, which will be used to raise discussion and instil values related to national democracy.

“The festival serves as a socialisation mechanism to expand the Rakan Muda programme launched in June under the ‘Rakan Demokrasi’ umbrella encompassing ‘Rakan Ekspresi’, ‘Rakan Muzik’, and ‘Rakan Niaga’.

“We want the community here to have a means to spend quality time with activities that promote positive values,” Adam told the media at an activation event to promote Pesta Rakan Muda Mudi here, today.

Adam added the festival also promises an array of activities, including a book fair, an art exhibition, movie screenings, acoustic music performances, poetry readings, and discussion forums, among others.

Anticipating a turnout of up to 2,000 attendees for the event, he said the ministry will expand the initiative to different locations nationwide in the future.

He said future editions of the event will explore diverse themes, including sports, mental health, and entrepreneurship. — September 4, 2023
