KUALA LUMPUR —Rapper Jay-Z has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 in an updated filing of a lawsuit originally brought against fellow artiste Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The person accusing Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, remains anonymous, and had added his name when re-filing the lawsuit against Combs yesterday, NBC News reports.
The accuser claims the rape happened at a house she was driven to for an after-party following the MTV Video Music Awards in New York.
She did not have a ticket to access the show or an after-party and so tried to gain access by approaching limousine drivers.
The lawsuit states that one driver told her he worked for Combs and that the girl “fit what Diddy was looking for”.
Later the same evening, he drove her to a house after the awards, where upon arrival she was told to sign a document in order to enter the after-party. The claimant said she believes that it was a nondisclosure agreement.
She was given a drink that made her feel lightheaded and went into a room to rest, where Carter and Combs appeared, and the former removed her clothes before the rape by both men began.
Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee filed the revised suit yesterday, and was also the lawyer who filed the original suit against Combs in October.
In a statement to NBC, Carter called the accusations “idiotic” and accused the Buzbee of unprofessional behaviour, as the lawyer had filed several lawsuits previously for anonymous complainants, all of them accusing Combs of assault and rape.
Carter has reportedly filed his own suit against Buzbee.
Combs was criminally charged in September with racketeering, sex trafficking, among other offenses, and is currently in detention, with trial scheduled for May 5 next year. – December 9, 2024
