KUALA LUMPUR – Police have found the body of an individual believed to be that of 23-year-old singer Muhammad Nidza Afham Mokhtar, known by his stage name Nidza Afham.
This comes after the artist was reported missing by his family after going for a jog last night.
Details of the discovery are unclear at press time, but Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the discovery of the body this evening.
“Yes, we found a body, and we are waiting for the family members to identify the body at the Klang hospital,” he told Scoop when contacted.
Hussein said the case is being investigated as a “sudden death” report until further information is revealed from the postmortem, which has yet to be conducted.
Meanwhile, his elder sister, Efahanie, had shared a tragic message on social media without elaborating on the situation.
On social media platform X, Efahanie left a Islamic condolence message.
“Innalillahiwainnailaihirajiun… (We surely belong to Allah and to Him we shall return). Allahuakbar..Allah……,” she said.
Earlier today, Nidza’s younger sister Aufahanie said left for his jog at the Sultan Suleiman Stadium in Klang at approximately 7.58pm yesterday evening.
Concerns arose when Nidza’s girlfriend, Miera, was unable to reach him around 11.53pm, as he had stopped responding to her calls. The family then went to his last known location at the Sg Klang bridge at approximately 1.50am, where they discovered only his wallet and phone.
Aufahanie noted that Nidza’s wallet was missing his ATM card and had no cash. A check of his phone revealed no signs of disputes or involvement with loan sharks. She also confirmed that he had completed his 3km running goal.
The family has checked with nearby mosques, hospitals, and clinics, but no information about Nidza has surfaced. A police report was filed around 4am, but the authorities have yet to provide any updates.
Nidza Afham gained recognition for his participation in Season 3 of I Can See Your Voice Malaysia in 2020. He is also known for his song covers on YouTube, including a rendition of “Rindu Setengah Mati,” which has garnered 6.5 million views, and has released a single titled “Ternyata Bukan Aku.” – August 14, 2024
