BANGKOK – Six people were found dead in a hotel room in the Ratchaprasong area here yesterday.
The deceased, three men and three women, were reported to be two Vietnamese-Americans and four Vietnam nationals.
In an immediate response, Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said he has instructed police chief Torsak Sukvimol to urgently and thoroughly investigate the case and take control of the situation to ensure no adverse impact or danger to the public and tourists.
Speaking to media at the scene last night, Srettha said the bodies were discovered at 4.30pm.
He said initial findings by the police indicate that the deceased had died in less than 24 hours from suspected poisoning as there were no signs of trauma or robbery.
Srettha, who was accompanied by Torsak, said he had also briefed Vietnamese ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung on the case.
Police are investigating the case by viewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to determine the cause of death. – July 17, 2024
