KUALA LUMPUR – Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said he has tried to persuade Good Vibes Festival (GVF) organisers to postpone the event as it would clash with the coronation of the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on July 20, but the organisers were not able to.
“I talked to the GVF team and gave them some proposals and suggestions (to rearrange the event).
“However, they informed me that it is difficult to coordinate the international artistes and shift (all the performances) in a single day,” Fahmi said at a conference here today.
He said that there are several other events planned on the same day which were postponed to different dates.
GVF, however, cancelled the concerts to be held in Genting Highlands on July 20 and 21, after a statement issued by the Committee on Application for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes (Puspal).
Puspal, which is under Fahmi’s ministry, said large-scale performances involving international artistes were not to be held on July 20 out of respect for the coronation of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim.
GVF organiser, Future Sound Asia, said it was axeing the entire festival as it was not possible to reschedule multiple touring acts.
It will be giving full refunds to all those who bought tickets. – July 4, 2024
