Bring Me the Horizon, also known as BMTH, last performed in Kuala Lumpur during the Rockaway Festival in 2013, while Babymetal played in Malaysia as recently as June 2023. Since the band’s inception in 2004, Bring Me the Horizon has released seven studio albums, including their latest, Post Human: Nex Gen, which came out last month.
BMTH has sold over five million records worldwide and has won four Kerrang! Awards.
Babymetal, consisting of founding members Su-Metal and Moametal, along with new addition Momometal, recently spoke to NME at the Download Festival about their evolution over the past decade and their collaborations with some of the biggest names in metal.
The trio’s latest single, RATATATA, created with Electric Callboy, marked their first entry onto the US charts. This new track arrived after welcoming Momometal, real name Momoko Okazaki, into the line-up following Yuimetal’s departure in 2018. Okazaki, a former contestant on Girls Planet 999 and one of Babymetal’s backup dancers since 2019, has seamlessly integrated into the group.
Since Momometal joined, Babymetal has worked with prominent figures in the metal world, including Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. Last year, they collaborated on the track Metali!! with him, aiming to inspire crowds to form a circle pit at this summer’s festivals.
Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes has also praised the trio, having collaborated with them several times. – June 24, 2024
