SHAH ALAM – Police have seized RM4.92 million worth of drugs from two separate syndicates in South Klang and Subang Jaya, involving five different types of narcotics.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that in the first case, Selangor Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) apprehended a 30-year-old unemployed man on June 5.
In a press conference today, Hussein said the man was found with 16,843g of ecstasy, 7,299g of Erimin 5 (nimetazepam) pills, 6,776g of ketamine, 4,360g of methamphetamine, and 1,131g of heroin base.
The drugs were discovered in a Honda HRV and a house in South Klang, valued at RM4.12 million and intended for distribution in the Klang Valley.
During the operation, police also seized a Mercedes Benz CLA200 worth RM130,000 and a gold ring valued at RM1,428 under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988.
In a separate incident on June 6, the Selangor NCID arrested a local man at a shopping mall parking lot in Subang Jaya at 1.50pm.
The man was found with 20 packets of methamphetamine weighing a total of 20.842g in a white canvas bag.
Following this, police apprehended three additional local men at 2.10pm in Rawang, seizing RM666,944 worth of drugs meant for distribution in the Klang Valley.
The suspects, aged between 30 and 50, included a lorry driver, a building contractor, and two unemployed individuals.
Hussein noted that the first suspect had nine prior criminal records, the second had two records of arrests in a neighbouring country, the third had seven records, and the fourth had five drug-related cases.
Urine tests showed that three suspects tested positive for amphetamines and methamphetamine, while one tested negative.
Police also confiscated a Toyota CHR worth RM135,000 and RM1,777 in cash from the suspects.
All suspects are remanded for seven days under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Both cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which mandates the death penalty or life imprisonment and at least 12 strokes of the cane if found guilty. – June 11, 2024
