KUALA LUMPUR – Sexual assault allegations against religious preacher Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew by an Indonesian influencer have been classified as ‘no further action’ (NFA), his lawyer said.

Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader said the case brought by influencer Mondy Tattoo was classified as NFA by the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) following police investigations which concluded on September 14 last year.

“The prosecutor’s decision is to discontinue the matter because there’s no case.

“So Ebit Lew will not be prosecuted and his personal items such as his sim card and phone have been returned to him yesterday,” Akberdin told reporters today.

Lew, who is currently on trial for a separate sexual harassment case, also has a defamation suit against Mondy which the court is to decide on July 1, Akberdin added.

On October 11 last year, it was reported that police had submitted investigation papers into Mondy’s allegations of sexual assault by Lew to the AGC.

Lew, 38, filed his defamation suit against Mondy the following month.

Lew is current on trial for 11 sexual harassment charges that includes sending lewd comments and photos to a woman via WhatsApp.

His charges are under Section 509 of the Penal Code, and he can face a maximum of five years in jail, a fine, or both. – June 6, 2024
