KUALA LUMPUR – Electricity has been fully restored at two major shopping destinations, IOI City Mall Putrajaya and Johor Bahru City Square, following an outage reported yesterday.
Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), in a Facebook update, confirmed the successful restoration of power to IOI City Mall Putrajaya by midnight last night.
Similarly, Johor Bahru City Square regained electricity at 2.20am this morning.
“TNB will maintain vigilance over the power supply until stability is ensured.
“In addition, TNB will undertake further measures to identify improvements aimed at mitigating the risk of similar incidents in the future,” a TNB spokesman said.
TNB expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including the management of IOI City Mall Putrajaya and Johor Bahru City Square, as well as patrons, for their cooperation and patience during the recovery process.
“We extend our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this incident.
“We appreciate your understanding and support,” the spokesman added.
Earlier reports from Scoop revealed that IOI City Mall Putrajaya was closed to the public yesterday following a power outage at 12.45am, stemming from an issue at the TNB plant supplying electricity to the mall.
TNB confirmed that the outage resulted from damage to the incoming cable located 2km away from the premises.
The management of IOI City Mall Putrajaya explained that TNB required additional time to address the electrical disruption, citing various damages identified with no guaranteed restoration timeframe.
“In the interest of our tenants and customers, the shopping centre remained closed yesterday to facilitate TNB’s repair efforts,” the management stated.
Johor Bahru City Square reportedly closed two hours earlier than usual yesterday due to a power outage.
The shopping centre’s management announced the closure on Facebook at 8pm, collaborating with TNB to determine the cause of the disruption. – March 29, 2024
