KUALA LUMPUR – With only four days left to register for the Central Database Hub (Padu), the surge of last-minute registrations has led to the official website slowing down, resulting in widespread user dissatisfaction.
Checks by Scoop showed that netizens were taking their complaints to Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli on his official X account, citing the high website traffic and poor efficiency, while some asked for the deadline to be extended.
Commenting on Rafizi’s post on Padu, user @vicknoba said that the website was not opening due to high traffic.
User @Jalil45525928 asked, “I’ve registered and filled in all the required information, but the QR Code part for the IC and profile photo is not going through. Does this mean the registration process is not complete, YB?”
Another user, @BasinimetraA, also expressed facing difficulties with the registration process.
Meanwhile, user @najihahshahrin is hoping that the registration deadline will be extended to provide additional time for others to register and update their information.
Padu was launched on January 2, and the public has until March 31 to register and update their details in the system.
The implementation of Padu aims to enhance governance and improve policy planning and implementation based on data.
It is not only focused on retargeting subsidies and aid but also aimed at comprehensively identifying the socioeconomic status of the people.
Previously, chief statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin said more than 7.36 million Malaysian citizens, or 35% of the country’s population, had updated their information in the Padu.
He said he is optimistic that more individuals who have not yet registered or updated their data will do so in the last few days before the March 31 deadline, following increasing awareness.
Uzir also assured that the safety and confidentiality of information within Padu, which is managed by the National Digital Department under the Prime Minister’s Department, have been guaranteed against leaks thus far. – March 28, 2024
