KUALA LUMPUR – Action has been taken in accordance with the existing guidelines while the case of a teacher allegedly sexually exploiting her student is being investigated, said the Education Ministry.
However, the ministry did not reveal details of the “action”, only reiterating that it would provide full cooperation as authorities investigated the case.
It also said there was no tolerance for sexual offences in all educational institutions under the ministry.
In a brief statement, the ministry added that it took a serious view of sexual misconduct cases involving teachers and students.
“We urge all parties to report sexual crimes so action could be taken. Education institutions under the ministry have to adhere to the sexual misconduct management guidelines to ensure student safety and wellbeing.”
A teacher has been accused of sexually exploiting and grooming her 16-year-old student, after screenshots of their conversation went viral yesterday.
The user also shared screenshots of conversations purportedly between the teacher and the boy, as well as a video and photos of their secret meeting by the beach.
It was revealed that the boy’s mother had lodged reports with police and the district education office, leading to the teacher being transferred to another school.
Bukit Aman’s sexual, women and child investigation division (D11) principal assistant director Siti Kamsiah Hassan said a police report was made in December last year and all parties involved had been called to provide their statements.
“We are completing the investigation papers and (the matter) will be referred to the public prosecutor’s office,” she was reported as saying.
Meanwhile, Sepang police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof confirmed that a report was lodged on December 12, alleging the teacher molested the student when they were in the school library. – March 25, 2024
