SHAH ALAM – Delegates from Bersatu’s annual general meeting (AGM) today unanimously rejected Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s decision to not defend his presidency during the party polls next year.

The rejection was voiced out through 20 debaters during the AGM’s debate session, today, and announced by the party’s permanent chairman Datuk Suhaimin Abdullah.

The assembly also rejected two other matters brought up by Muhyiddin in his speech, firstly his proposal to find a replacement to be Bersatu’s next president and his stance for this AGM to be his last meeting.

Suhaimi said the rejection is in line with Article 123, 124 and 125 of the party’s constitution.

Yesterday, the Bersatu Supreme Council in an emergency meeting unanimously rejected Muhyiddin’s decision to not defend his top leadership position.

The Pagoh MP said the decision to not defend his position as Bersatu president was to provide the opportunity for other leaders to take over the leadership democratically while continuing to spread the party’s agenda.

At the same time, Muhydiddin who is also PN chairman said he will slow down his political career while remaining as a Bersatu member. – November 25, 2023
