PETALING JAYA – A man was discovered dead in Kampung Meranto, Gua Musang earlier today, marking the second occurrence of a suspected tiger attack in as many days.

The victim, a Burmese national, died in a hospital after he was mauled by the endangered animal, Bulletin TV3 reported.

This is the second death involving a tiger in the area within the span of 48 hours.

Yesterday, an Indonesian rubber tapper was believed to have been mauled to death by a tiger near Pos Pasik, an Orang Asli village.

The victim, Lalu Sukarya Yahya, was found dismembered. His remains have been transported to Gua Musang Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Subsequently, the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) has set up an investigation into incidents.

On October 4, an Orang Asli man named Pisie Amud was reported missing.

He was found dead a day later, with injuries surrounding the head and body, from a tiger attack.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, a critically endangered Malayan tiger was discovered dead near the Gua Tempurung rest area on the North-South Expressway in Perak.

Personnel from the Wildlife and National Parks Department said the male tiger, estimated to be between eight and ten years old, is believed to have been struck by a trailer. – November 11, 2023
