KUALA LUMPUR – Two of Muda’s candidates for the six state elections, Kalyana Rajasekaran Teagarajan and R. Siva Prakash, appear to have the most assets compared to other hopefuls from the youth-based party.
This is according to documents shared by Muda on its election website after party president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman announced today that all 19 of its election candidates have declared their assets.
According to the documents, Kalyana, who is eyeing Selangor’s Bukit Gasing state seat, has about RM16.03 million worth of total assets, while Kuala Kubu Baru contender Siva has a total of RM3.97 million in assets.
The breakdown of “moveable local properties” as of June 30 has two watches worth RM90,000 as well as jewellery amounting to RM15,000.
Besides two motor vehicles and one motorcycle worth a combined total of RM344,000, the son of former MIC stalwart Datuk VKK Teagarajan also has RM11.2 million worth of shares in various companies where he also holds directorships.
While he owns two properties in Petaling Jaya – an apartment unit in Jaya One (RM960,000) and a bungalow in Section 16 (RM3 million) – his liabilities, including hire purchase, credit card, and home loan debts, come up to RM2.08 million.
Bukit Gasing will see a three-corner fight between Kalyana, incumbent Rajiv Rishyakaran of Pakatan Harapan, and Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate D. Nallan.
Meanwhile, out of his RM3.97 million in assets, Siva is recorded to have RM2.95 million in immovable properties as well as either director, shareholder, or partnership roles in nine companies believed to be worth RM450,000.
While the breakdown of the company shares was not made known, the candidate for the state seat in Penang has a total of RM300,000 in his bank account, including RM150,000 for motor vehicles, RM50,000 worth of jewellery, and RM70,000 for other valuables.
His liabilities, including personal, property, and vehicle loans, total RM 1.36 million.
Siva will also be part of a three-corner contest for the Kuala Kubu Baru state seat against Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Ching Boon Lai, PH’s Lee Kee Hiong, and PN’s Teoh Kien Hong.
Another notable asset declaration is from Muda’s Bandar Utama candidate, Abe Lim, who has a 50% stake in two companies with a combined value of RM50,374.50.
With a total asset value of RM353,593.69, Lim also has about RM56,000 in three savings accounts, as well as a Proton X70 and a BMW X5 – a total market value of RM203,800.
She also has jewellery worth RM10,000 and other valuables worth RM33,417.49.
Under the section to declare assets owned by family members, Lim listed Mcinter (M) Sdn Bhd and Mcinter International Sdn Bhd. She holds directorship positions in both companies and a shareholder stake in the latter.
As of press time, the asset declarations of two Muda candidates remain inaccessible for Qusyairi Ahmad (Temiang) and Melanie Ting (Bukit Antarabangsa).
However, there was no asset breakdown for party information chief Luqman Long, who is the party’s sole candidate in Terengganu for the Bandar state seat. – August 3, 2023
