KUALA LUMPUR – Local conglomerate DSAT Group has decided to take legal action against Kedah Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohammad Sanusi Md Nor, seeking RM1 billion in damages.

In a post on his Facebook page on Monday, the group’s Executive Chairman, Datuk Seri Azizul Tandek, explained that the lawsuit was prompted by Sanusi’s remarks during a press conference on November 7 at the Sungai Petani Municipal Council (MPSPK), Sinar Harian reported.

“DSAT Group has decided to sue the MB of Kedah for RM1 billion over his statement on November 7, 2024, at MPSPK. See you in court,” he wrote.

At the press conference, Sanusi had advised any company interested in taking over the Kedah Darul Aman (KDA) FC football team to ensure they had the ability to manage it.

The president of the Kedah Football Association (KFA) stated that while the club’s ownership was not related to the state government, he still urged that no fraudulent activities should take place.

“If you have the capability, go ahead. We hope and pray that it is genuine ability, don’t ‘scam’, making all kinds of statements before anything even happens.

“Being like a scammer is not good. It has nothing to do with us (the state government), they are not dealing with us, and they do not need my approval or the approval of the State Exco for Sports… they need to meet with KDA’s lawyers,” he reportedly said.

Previously, KDA FC owner Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar had invited any interested parties to submit an official letter of interest or proposal to them.

He said that there would be no objections to considering any reasonable and genuine offers that would benefit the future and continuity of KDA FC.

Azizul responded to this invitation by sending an official letter through his subsidiary, Mahsuri Medical Centre (MMC), last Sunday, expressing interest in acquiring the football team. – November 18, 2024
