KUALA LUMPUR – The initial phase of redevelopment works for the Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) project is progressing according to schedule, with a 45% completion rate thus far.

In a post on its social media pages yesterday, KSSA’s management said that the initial phase of construction, which involves the demolition of the current Shah Alam Stadium, is underway.

“Soon, the foundation for our state-of-the-art facility will begin taking shape. This new venue will not only enhance the local football fan experience but also provide our community with a vibrant space for year-round events,” it added.

It also expressed its gratitude to members of the public living or operating businesses around the complex, noting that it is striving to minimise any inconvenience to its surrounding neighbours.

“We truly appreciate your patience as we continue to work closely with local authorities and contractors to keep noise and dust at a controlled level.”

On September 15, Selangor state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said that the demotion of the Shah Alam Stadium, which was reported to cost RM35.5 million, is expected to take until May next year.

He also noted that the KSSA will be developed simultaneously.

Previously, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) said the development of the KSSA, which will be done in three phases, should be completed by 2029.

The first phase, which is expected to be done by December 2026, involves demolishing the existing stadium and building the KSSA. The second phase, projected to begin in January 2027, will see the construction of a closed theatre, youth and sports wing as well as recreational areas.

The final phase potentially commencing between January 2028 and December 2029 will involve building an integrated terminal and hotel. – October 6, 2024
