GEORGE TOWN – The Communications Ministry is yet to hear any updates on the probe into former Community Communications Department (J-Kom) director-general Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff, says Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
“I am yet to receive any information from the investigating party (on the probe).
“(Therefore) I would suggest that this question is directed to police or other agencies,” the minister told the reporters after attending the Komuniti Madani event at Batu Uban, here, yesterday.
Fahmi was responding to Bersatu Youth, which has called for the authorities to provide updates on the investigation against Agus.
Bersatu Youth permanent chairman Akmal Zahin Zainal Zahir previously said that the lack of action into the case and the investigation into former human resources minister V. Sivakumar. has raised serious concerns.
Agus resigned as the department’s director-general in November last year not long after a clip allegedly showing a lewd conversation between him and J-Kom officer Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani surfaced and went viral.
Wahab has also lodged a report against Agus for alleged sexual harassment on October 21 at a hotel in Bintulu, Sarawak.
It was reported that police had completed their probe into Wahab’s claim and that the investigation paper was submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) on December 18 last year.
On a separate matter, Fahmi also said that his ministry is yet to decide on appointing a new director-general for J-Kom as the selection process is ongoing and he is “leaving it it to the process”.
On September 24, Mohd Khairuddin Othman, who was appointed into the role in March, reportedly said that he has been removed as J-Kom’s director-general, just six months after his appointment.
Fahmi confirmed Khairuddin’s termination the following day but did not disclose the reason behind decision made. – October 6, 2024
