KUALA LUMPUR – AirAsia X has announced a new route to Africa, connecting Kuala Lumpur to Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.

The route, set to commence on November 15, makes AirAsia X the only low-cost carrier from Malaysia to offer direct air connectivity to the city.

The company stated that this move is a result of positive financial results and regaining market leadership on the network front.

“The Nairobi route serves as a crucial link in connecting Asia to Africa, fostering stronger trade, tourism, and business ties within the region,” the airline said in a statement today.

“By facilitating direct air travel between Kuala Lumpur and Nairobi, the airline aims to enhance accessibility and spur economic opportunities for both countries.”

Those booking flight tickets through the AirAsia MOVE app can enjoy a 100% reduction of the flight’s base fare for economy seats.

All-in fares start from RM471, inclusive of fuel surcharge, taxes, and fees.

Promo tickets can be booked until July 14 for travel between November 15 this year and October 8, 2025.

During a press conference for the launch yesterday at RedQ, Sepang, Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said that the new service could bring 35.6 million tourists to Malaysia.

Previously, AirAsia introduced flight destinations to several locations in Cambodia, as well as a direct flight to Almaty, Kazakhstan. – July 1, 2024
