Cops detain two more individuals over KL club petrol bomb case

KUALA LUMPUR – Another two individuals have been detained today concerning an incident of a petrol bomb being thrown at an entertainment centre in Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, here, on Thursday.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said in total four people aged between 25 and 28 were remanded for four days until May 14. 

“Police have yet to determine the motive behind the attack,” he said in a statement today.

Two local men aged 25 were detained at a house at 3pm yesterday in Batu Caves.

Police have taken statements from the premises owner and the nightclub manager to aid its investigations.

It is being investigated under Section 435 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage) and Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Penal Code.

CCTV footage revealed the incident occurred around 2.18am on May 9. The video shows at least four men parking their motorcycles on the side of the road prior to the incident. 

Subsequently, they were seen hurling an object, suspected to be a petrol bomb, before fleeing the scene. – May 11, 2024
