LRT Kelana Jaya line: signalling malfunction disrupts commute home

KUALA LUMPUR – A disruption in the signalling system at the USJ 7 station along the Kelana Jaya LRT line early last night led to delays in train services, particularly for those heading towards Putra Heights. 

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said the malfunction prompted the activation of alternative train routes between Subang Jaya and Taipan.

The incident inconvenienced numerous passengers relying on the LRT for their daily commute. 

Social media user @arepzs shared a video showing people stuck inside the train during the incident.  

“During the incident, lightning struck just before the train to activate its emergency brakes upon reaching the station.”

After approximately an hour of addressing the signalling issue, train operations returned to normal around 8.40pm.

Following the completion of necessary repairs, alternative train services were terminated. – May 9, 2024
