PUCHONG – Two more vehicles remain buried under a landslide in Taman Wawasan, here, while work to install iron piles to stabilise the soil there is expected to be completed within four days.
Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim said that 121 of the 375 piles have been installed, Bernama reported him as saying.
The piling work was initially expected to be completed in a week or more, at the earliest, since the landslide on Saturday (December 16) evening.
“After the installation of the iron piles is completed, the process of restoring the slope to its original structure will be carried out before proceeding with road levelling works,” he told Bernama at the site today.
The landslide had caused a road embankment on Jalan Wawasan 3/9 to collapse, creating a huge crater right in front of the gates of several houses.
No one was injured though four vehicles were damaged when they fell into the crater.
Today, a second car was lifted out of the debris, Selangor exco Ng Sze Han said.
He posted a video of a crane at work lifting the vehicle on Facebook.
The first vehicle was removed two days ago.
Bernama TV meanwhile, reported that the vehicles that fell along with the landslide had to be removed for the rest of the piling work to be continued.
As to the cause of the landslide, Fauzi said it is still being investigated by the Minerals and Geoscience Department.
The occupants of nine houses affected by the landslide have been ordered to evacuate, while other houses are undergoing structural assessment. – December 20, 2023
