KUALA LUMPUR – The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds in eight states.
The warning, issued at 2.45pm, indicates that heavy rain is forecasted until 5pm this evening.
The eight affected states are Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Pahang, Johor, Perak, Kelantan, Sabah, and Sarawak.
“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20mm/hour, expected to persist for more than an hour.
“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term advisory valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single issuance,” it said.
Some of the affected areas include Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Gombak, and Petaling), Pahang (Cameron Highlands and Rompin), and Johor (Kluang, Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Bahru).
Other affected regions include Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, and Batang Padang), as well as Kelantan (Musang Cave).
Additionally, Sabah’s West Coast (Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Ranau, and Kota Belud), Kudat (Kota Marudu), and Sarawak (Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei – Pakan and Julau, Sibu – Kanowit, and Kapit – Song, Kapit, and Bukit Mabong) are also expected to be affected. – November 12, 2023
